Computers for Community Service Project: Highland Hills Middle School
The sixth grade at Highland Hills Middle School has an ongoing project
with Providence Retirement Home where they send letters to the residents. In past years, Highland Hills
Middle School students have been able to meet those residents in person by taking a field trip to the home,
but this is not planned within the new school budget. Students continue to write letters to residents
they have not met. In order to communicate further and more regularly with the residents, it is hoped to
purchase two computers with technology that allow students to record messages, display artwork, and present
musical programs that will be used for this project. The Retirement Home Activity Director has approved
the idea and hopes the project moves ahead. Although the corporation has approved the purchase of these
computers, there is no budget to purchase them. Theresa Gottbrath, English Teacher, is exploring many
avenues to raise these funds and anticipates volunteers will come forward with a donation toward the
purchase. The total cost for the two computers is $2,371.22. If you are willing to contribute toward
the cause, please contact Theresa Gottbrath at tgottbrath@nafcs.k12.in.us
or send a check to Highland Hills Middle School to her attention. The school’s address is
3492 Edwardsville/Galena Rd, Georgetown, IN 47122. |

Cellos for Orchestra Students: Highland Hills Middle School
Highland Hills is fortunate to have many students interested in being part of the orchestra
program; however, this can be a mixed blessing. Every day in class, students must watch while others are
practicing the cello. Orchestra director Doug Elmore is exploring many options to find cellos for these
eager students so they may fully participate in their classes. If you happen to have a cello that is no
longer being used, please consider donating it to Highland Hills. Another option is to donate money
toward the purchase of a cello. One instrument costs about $1500. If you are willing to contribute
toward the cause, please send a check made payable to Highland Hills Middle School with a designation that
it be used to purchase a cello. If you have questions, please contact Doug Elmore at
delmore@nafcs.k12.in.us. |
